Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 29 Jan 2026

These terms govern your use of batapp. We've kept them as clear as possible while covering what matters legally.

The short version: Use batapp for legitimate business purposes. Pay for your subscription. Don't do anything illegal or harmful. You own your data. We own the software.

Who's who

  • batapp / we / us — Albertec IT Solutions CC (Reg No: 2008/017765/23)
  • Service — The batapp web app, mobile apps, and all related features
  • You / User — Anyone who uses batapp
  • Your Data — Everything you add to batapp (assets, photos, locations, etc.)

The agreement

By using batapp, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you're signing up for a company, you're confirming you have authority to accept these terms on their behalf.

Don't agree? Don't use the service.

What you can do

We grant you a license to:

  • Use batapp for your internal business purposes
  • Use the mobile apps on devices you control
  • Access our documentation and help materials

This license lasts as long as you have an active subscription and follow these terms.

What you can't do

  • Copy, modify, or reverse-engineer the software
  • Resell, sublicense, or transfer your access
  • Build a competing product using batapp
  • Use batapp for anything illegal
  • Try to hack, overload, or disrupt the service
  • Access other users' accounts or data
  • Upload malware or harmful content

Your data

You own it. Everything you put into batapp — assets, photos, locations, custom fields, check-out records — belongs to you.

We need permission to handle your data to run the service, so you grant us a license to store, process, display, and transmit your data as needed to:

  • Operate batapp
  • Provide support
  • Improve the service
  • Keep things secure

That's it. We won't use your data for anything else without asking.

Photos and location data

When you upload photos or capture GPS locations, we store them as part of your asset records. They're your data and follow the same rules.

What happens to your data when you leave

If you cancel or we terminate your account:

  • You have 30 days to export your data
  • After 30 days, we permanently delete it
  • Some records may be kept for legal compliance (see our Privacy Policy)

Paying for batapp

Subscriptions and pricing

  • We offer monthly and annual plans — see our pricing page
  • All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR)
  • Prices on our website include VAT unless stated otherwise
  • Fees are charged in advance at the start of each billing period

Payment methods

We accept:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Other methods as shown at checkout

Payments are processed by our PCI-DSS certified payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.

Authorising payments

By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method:

  • For the subscription fee at the start of each billing period
  • For any add-ons you purchase (extra users, asset packs)
  • Automatically on each renewal date until you cancel

This is your consent to recurring billing. You can cancel anytime to stop future charges.

Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.

  • We'll email you at least 7 days before each renewal
  • The renewal email will confirm the amount to be charged
  • To cancel: email support@batapp.co.za before your renewal date

Price changes

We may change prices with 30 days' written notice. Price changes apply from your next billing cycle after the notice period. If you don't agree with a price change, cancel before it takes effect.

Failed payments

If a payment fails:

  1. We'll notify you by email
  2. We'll retry the payment a few times over the following days
  3. After 7 days of failed payments, we may suspend your access
  4. After 30 days, we may terminate your account

Update your payment details promptly if your card expires or is declined. You can do this through your account settings or by contacting support.

Refunds

  • Monthly subscriptions: No refunds for partial months
  • Annual subscriptions: No refunds for unused months, but you keep access until the period ends
  • Our fault: If we terminate your account without cause, we'll refund the unused portion
  • Billing errors: Contact us within 30 days and we'll correct any mistakes

Disputes and chargebacks

If you have a billing question, contact us first at support@batapp.co.za — we'll sort it out.

If you dispute a charge with your bank (chargeback) without contacting us first, we may suspend your account while we investigate. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in account termination and collection action.

Taxes

You're responsible for any taxes applicable to your subscription. We'll charge VAT where required by South African law. If you're VAT-registered and need a tax invoice, contact support.

How the service works

Availability

We aim for 99% uptime. Sometimes we need maintenance — we'll give reasonable notice for planned downtime.

Support

  • Email: support@batapp.co.za
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm SAST
  • Response times depend on your plan (Business subscription gets priority, and Enterprise has dedicated support channel as per SLA)

Features and changes

We may add, modify, or remove features. We'll try to give notice for significant changes, especially if they affect how you use the service.

Security and access

Your responsibility

  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Don't share accounts
  • Use strong passwords
  • Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

Role-based access

batapp has different user roles. As an Admin, you're responsible for:

  • Who gets access to your organisation
  • What role they have
  • Locking or unlocking accounts
  • Removing access when people leave

Location-based restrictions

You can restrict users to specific locations. Configure this carefully — it's your responsibility to set appropriate access controls.

Disclaimer

batapp is provided "as is." We do our best to make it reliable and useful, but we can't guarantee it will be perfect, uninterrupted, or error-free.

We don't warrant that:

  • The service will meet all your specific requirements
  • It will be available 100% of the time
  • All errors will be corrected immediately

Limitation of liability

Our maximum liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before any claim.

We're not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Lost profits or business interruption
  • Problems caused by third-party services
  • Data loss (except due to our gross negligence)

Consumer Protection Act

If you're a consumer under South African law, some of these limitations may not apply to you. We don't exclude any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act.

Indemnity

You agree to protect us from claims arising from:

  • Your use of batapp
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your data or content
  • Your violation of someone else's rights

Account termination

You can leave anytime

Cancel by emailing support@batapp.co.za or through your account settings.

  • Your access continues until the end of your current billing period
  • No further charges after cancellation
  • You won't get a refund for the remaining time, but you can keep using batapp until the period ends

We can terminate if needed

We may terminate your access immediately if you:

  • Seriously breach these terms
  • Don't pay after we've notified you
  • Do something that harms us or other users

What survives termination

Some parts of these terms continue after termination: intellectual property rights, liability limits, and governing law.

General terms

Entire agreement

These terms plus our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us. They replace any previous agreements about batapp.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For significant changes:

  • We'll email you
  • We'll note the changes on our website
  • Continued use means you accept the new terms

Governing law

These terms are governed by South African law. Disputes go to South African courts.

Assignment

You can't transfer your account without our permission. We can transfer these terms if we're acquired or reorganise.

Force majeure

Neither of us is liable for delays caused by things beyond reasonable control — natural disasters, wars, internet outages, pandemics, etc.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

Beta notice

batapp is currently in beta. Things may change. Features may be added or removed. By using the beta, you accept that the service is still being refined.
