Capturing GPS coordinates for assets on mobile.
Geolocation
batapp can capture the GPS coordinates and resolved address of an asset's physical position. This is separate from the organisational location field — geolocation records where the asset actually is at a point in time.
Geolocation is not enabled by default. Contact support@batapp.co.za to have it enabled for your organisation. Once enabled, geolocation fields appear on the asset details tab.
Capturing Coordinates
On a mobile device with GPS access:
- Open the asset
- Tap the geolocation capture button
- Grant location permission if prompted
- batapp records the latitude, longitude, and resolved address
The captured location includes a link to view the position on Google Maps.
Requirements
- Android or iOS device with GPS
- Location permission granted to the batapp app
- Not available on desktop browsers
